More than just a pretty face
It takes a particular talent to build something from scratch, then another to make it look great, and yet another to make it functional. This is the challenge we get on a daily basis. This particular enclosure has a nice swooping curve over the top, painted endcaps and a University of Houston logo front and center.
What you don't see is really what makes this enclosure interesting. Even with the curve, it's all made from wood! This was assembled using a technique that slices the entire piece into vertical sections and layers it all together. This allows for more creative shaping and great structural integrity. When the resonance of the enclosure is lowered by strengthening or bracing the walls, purer sound is produced from the subwoofer. With less flex in the enclosure it makes the sound even more omnipresent in the vehicle.
Pretty cool, huh?
